Easy French Door Window coverings with Command Strips

I have 2 sets of French Doors in my house. Both have a bay to add some depth to the room.  But with that depth comes a whole new problem. The cost of getting window coverings.  Have you seen the prices for window treatments for bay windows, let alone doors. I searched high and low for window treatments and cam up with nothing.
In my mind that means, come up with my own solution.
So I did.  I cam up with this easy to make solution for under $50. Much better than the $400 alternative.

Super Hero Dress Ups and Costume

A few months ago I hosted a yard sale for a Youth Fundraiser.  One of the donations was a simple super hero cape made by a neighbor who had passed away.  Her family were cleaning out the house and decided to donate the old dress ups.  I was totally intrigues by the simplicity of these capes and just had to recreate them in an updated version.  So I began figure out the designs I wanted and how I would put them together.  So today I will share how I made the basic cape and over the next couple of weeks I will share the individual images I made for each super hero. So First up is Spiderman!
I will start with the basic cape that is used for all versions.

Alex Boye' "Let it Go" Inspired Winter White Sunday Dress

Several weeks ago we found a a music video online with the song "Let it Go" from Frozen, with the voices of Alex Boye' and Lexi Walker. My daughter became obsessed with the video and song.  I think every girl is!  I was more obsessed with the dresses the little Power house singer was wearing. I literally stayed up looking online for the two dresses. My husband just sat and laughed at me.  He finds my crazy funny.  But he knows once my brain starts looking it can't stop until I find what I am looking for.  I found the black and gray dress in the price range of $150. The cream one I couldn't find.  So I decided to make it myself.  So here is my take on the beautiful winter white dress Lexi was wearing in the music video.  A simple and Elegant winter white dress.

Easy Sew Easter Tote DIY

This year for Easter I thought it would be fun to make the kids an Easter Tote.  Its big enough for Easter Egg hunts, a fun toy or outfit and nothing falls out.  Then I found these adorable grocery bag fabrics at Joann's. The fabric was so cheap only $2.99 a yard. Adorable colors perfect for Easter.  I decided I would personalize each of them with a cute image.  I love how these Easter totes turned out.  My kids love them!

Anthropologie {Knock Off Skirt} Tutorial

While searching for a skirt to make for a client I came across this skirt from Anthropologie.
The original skirt is over $100.  Not really in the price range. She also wanted white lace instead of black. So it was my job to recreate it.  I love the classy look with a feminine touch of lace.

Super Hero Cape {Riley Blake Designs}

A few months ago I received the new Riley Blake Designs Catalog.  I saw these capes and knew I needed one for my little guy.  I was so excited when RBD told me they would send me out a few to try and share with you.
RBD will be releasing these beautiful panels later this month. They come in 3 colors. See them below.{even the girls can play along}
This is one of the coordinating fabrics. I think I need a project just for this fabric. Maybe a cute Neck Tie??? I love it!
Each panel comes with written instructions, a cape (one side), wristbands, waistband and mask. To complete the project you will need 3/4 yard coordinating fabric for back of cape, hook and loop tape, elastic (for mask) and a small amount of felt or batting for the accessories.
If your are new to sewing or want to start this is the perfect project to get started with! Just a few straight lines and a little zig zag stitching!

RBD will also be releasing Princess capes.  Perfect for your pretty princess.
Be sure to get these before they are all gone. They will make perfect gifts for Birthday's or Christmas. Check out the Ribbon Retreat online to purchase these adorable capes or anywhere Riley Blake is sold!
